Damascus Gate

What is the most shocking thing that has happened to me recently?

In July 2023 we visited Jerusalem. It is a beautiful city, with multiple tourist attractions. The holy land involves historical events of worldwide repercussion. It has been invaded 38 times since its construction. However, it maintains an important religious atmosphere. There the 3 monotheistic religions of the world are concentrated: Judaism, Islam and Christianity.
Today, Israel is a modern state, whose capital is Tel Aviv. The Holy Land, or Jerusalem, is an hour and a half away. The city is surrounded by walls and has a perimeter of 8 kilometers.
Thousands of people and pilgrims from all over the world visit it daily.
Within Jerusalem, there are the Muslim quarter, the Jewish quarter, the Armenian quarter, the Christian quarter, and the Temple Mount.

Jerusalem has 8 gates which are:
Damascus Gate
The Herod's Gate
The New Gate
The Gate of the Lions
The Dung Gate
The Zion Gate
The Jaffa Gate.
The Golden Gate.

One of the busiest gates is the Damascus Gate. It is located in the wall on the city's northwest side and connects to a highway leading out to Nablus. This gate provides access to the Arab market. It dates from the year 1542. History says that it was built by Soliman the Magnificent, an Ottoman emperor.
The Damascus gate has two towers. Unlike the Jaffa gate, the steps lead down towards the gate.
